NO Friend of Workers... NO Friend of Unions... NO Friend of Railroads... How or Why some would support this troll is unimaginable. When it comes to wowing workers, Donald Trump is an absolute magician. Through some mysterious sorcery, he has convinced millions of American workers that he is their true friend, fighting hard for them, even though he and his appointees have taken one anti-worker action after anotherâdozens of them.
The Ghost of Jimmy Hoffa By David Macaray | CounterPunch | Following is an article from one of our favorite magazine journals, CounterPunch, a periodical chocked with deep-seated investigative reporting that speaks to progressive politics and civil liberties. Lately there has been so much hype surrounding the the life and death of Jimmy Hoffa. The Martin Scorsese Netflix movie âThe Irishmanâ attempts to chart the events of the day Hoffa disappeared in a way that you somehow yield to them not as a flight of fancy but as the reconstruction of an established truth. This author felt necessary to put facts into perspective, removing Scorseseâs glamorization of one-time Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa and identifying the union and itâs leadership for what it was - corrupt, anti-democratic and dirty.
A decade ago, the US was promised high-speed railâso where is it? In 2009, US train enthusiasts received some of the best news since 1886, the year the country finally agreed to use the same rail gauge nationwide. US president Barack Obama had a plan to revitalize the floundering US economyâand rail was a big part of it. Not since the days of 19th century railroad tycoons had there been so much opportunityâor cashâfor US trains. Some 39 states leapt at the opportunity: Between them, the District of Columbia, and Amtrak, nearly 500 applications competed for the roughly $10.1 billion total pot available for rail projects. (Approving them all would have cost in the region of $75 billion.)

Bernie Sanders interviewed by Joe Rogan, who does more for democracy than CNN, MSNBC and Fox News put together, showing us how utterly useless and obsolete corporate media has become. A real conversation, a genuine addressing of Americaâs issues and solutions unlike the snarky tweets and demonizing rhetoric from the narcissistic orange menace.
Preventing workplace deaths will take a lot more than ceremonies and mock funerals and roses. It will take more than cleverly crafted slogans and memeâs or eye-catching tee shirts. It will take the insistence of workers to insure that there are more inspectors, more enforcement, more penalties, and more involvement by administrators. It will take workers actively organizing, at the polls, in the workplace and in the community if weâre going to be successful in realizing our goal, the end to workplace deaths and illnesses. It will take the open opposition of our government and our department of labor who currently embrace a philosophy of less â less regulation, less enforcement, less fines.
In 2015, the BMWED-IBT funded three research teams to study the impact of workplace hazards on the safety, health, and welfare of its members. The objectives were 1) to clearly define the risks and impact of injury, illness, and death among the unionâs membership, 2) to provide materials to educate both current and future members so they will be able to live longer and healthier lives, and 3) to provide scientific data that can be used to help prevent injuries and illnesses affecting members (and other MOW workers unaffiliated with BMWED) through a combination of regulatory improvements and labor/management engagement.

Union workers vowed not to support âhate groupâ accommodation for those attending the upcoming rally. Transit officials have ditched a controversial idea to dedicate separate cars or trains for white nationalists descending on the nationâs capital next weekend for a âUnite the Rightâ rally.
On Tuesday June 19, 2018 at the 4th Regular Convention of the BMWED-IBT, Pennsylvania Federation General Chairman Jed Dodd was elected, by acclamation, to the National Division position of Vice President At-Large.
